What's really heartbreaking is her account of how her oldest daughter constantly fought with her over her "betrayal" and, as an adult, returned to the cult. Every man involved in that cult should be in prison along with their leader, Warren Jeffs, for brainwashing and enslaving those women and children. As I watched those tearful women on the news this morning with their soft-spoken, tearful pleas for the return of their children, I just felt disgust at the thought of all of the manipulation and deception and cruelty that it took to mold these women into the image that we see of them today. The life they are living is not "real," it is a contrived fantasy of their (hopefully) former captors. (Kind of like "The Stepford Wives" meets "Little House on the Prairie.") Of course, they will try to point the finger back at people like you and me and say that we are intolerant of people who "believe" differently than they do, but in a civilized society, we cannot and should never allow anyone to try to hide immoral, criminal behavior behind contrived concepts of "belief" and "faith." Hopefully someday they will have the opportunity to really appreciate and thank that young girl who cried out for help and finally gave law enforcement the probable cause needed to legally move in and stop that nonsense. She is a hero.
